Into the Zone (Anthology of Accounts + Findings)

2015. 16 mm film, projection, hand cranked optical soundtrack, vitrines, natural history objects. 5 minutes 30 seconds

Into the Zone (Anthology of Accounts + Findings) is an immersive time based installation that hints at a potential topography after the Holocene Epoch. Footage contemplates the manner that humans collect, construct, and become natural history. In the installation space, viewers simultaneously switch between looking out at life size panoramic landscape views while navigating the faux museum presentation. Silhouettes are cast upon and intermingle with the projection dispersed around the space. The film includes footage captured and processed with bucket develop, reversal, and experimental darkroom processes. The original film is montaged together with found natural history documentary film. In the film, views switch between explorer, archivist/researcher, and an unknown entity that uncovers the fragments.
